Overview

A single home for someone's whole financial picture

Most budgeting habits die in a spreadsheet nobody updates after week two. WealthyGen was built to remove that friction entirely — connect your accounts, and the app does the categorizing, tracking, and analysis for you, surfacing insights instead of just raw numbers.

I owned the mobile build end to end: architecture, UI implementation, backend integration, and the AI layer that powers the app's budgeting recommendations.

The Challenge

Financial insight, without the spreadsheet

Users needed one place to track spending, set savings goals, and get real financial insight — without wrestling a spreadsheet into submission or juggling three different banking apps. The bigger challenge was making an inherently data-heavy product feel simple and fast on a phone, not overwhelming.

The Approach

React Native front end, AI-assisted backend

The app is built in React Native for a single, consistent codebase across iOS and Android, backed by a Node.js service layer and Firebase for auth, data sync, and real-time updates. On top of that sits an AI layer that reads categorized transaction data and turns it into plain-language budgeting guidance — not just charts, but actual next steps.

Performance mattered as much as features: transaction lists needed to stay smooth even as history grew, so data fetching and rendering were built around pagination and memoized list components from day one rather than bolted on later.
